Janna Wieringa is originally educated as a goldsmith and a product designer. Combining her educational background with her fascination for the performing arts she positions herself as a contemporary jewellery artist. Her interest lies in the influence an object has on our daily “performance” or as we can say the construction of our own identity. By redefining everyday objects, in material and function, she constantly explores the boundaries of body ornaments. Things that other people regard as repulsive or do not even notice is her main source of inspiration. She believes everything is a jewel, everybody is a performer and everywhere is a stage.
